It had been raining every day, nearly constantly as a matter of fact, but the youth had said they wanted to go to the lake rain or shine, so here we are. Just for the record, it did rain twice that afternoon. Once just after we arrived, for about 10 minutes, a soft but determined rain that gardeners love. The other shower (as the weatherman would describe it) was just after we finished loading the canoes for the drive back to town, and could be better described as a real frog floater. The tent was for "just in case." It turned out to be "just right."

August = EFY + Girls Camp
The boys went to EFY in Calgary again this year. It goes without saying how wonderful that program is, and how it helps our boys (and maybe other kids too) build strong testimonies of gospel truths. Their favorite class was how to face adversity and use the gospel to over come fears, trials, and difficulties. We may have a few of those.

Guess Who is Coming for Dinner
Jacob came home for a visit this week. He drove from Rexburg to Lethbridge, then rode the bus to Edmonton, then rode with Alan to Fort Mac.
He said nothing had changed until he saw Joseph and Samuel. Jacob is now the runt of the family (excluding me - I have been too short for a long time). He also changed his tune when he saw some of the construction going on around town.
Most of the families at church were also glad to see him. He will be here until Wednesday, when he has to make the trek back home.

Endless Summer
So, what is it that makes a good summer into a GREAT one? Grilled burgers are a good start. Cooking beef on a charcoal fire is the only way to go, in my opinion. Am I bragging? Yes, I am. But you see, the catch is that I did not cook these beauties. Samuel did. I was stuck in Edmonton, 500 km away, eating a salad from McDonald's. There is a small burger chain in the southwest USA called What-a-Burger. It is what every burger aspires to be. There are other great burger places around the country too, but they all share a few things in common: good beef, fresh salad, and jalapeno peppers. Good burgers are improved 100 fold (or so) with a good chile (jalapeno or Hatch Green Chiles are the tops in our family)
